We are pleased to announce the release of Center for Disease Control’s 2021 Supplement on Youth Violence Prevention. The supplement was produced in partnership with The American Journal of Public Health (AJPH). It features a number of editorials that highlight the work of the CDC National Centers of Excellence in Youth Violence Prevention (YVPCS). Working in 5 cities experiencing elevated violence across the country, including Chicago, Flint, Louisville, Richmond, and Denver, the YVPCs are implementing community-engaged youth violence prevention research that involves youth as integral partners.
Many of the featured editorials in the CDC supplement were written by members of the YVPC network, including our center’s leadership. The editorials present key learnings from the YVPCs on topics including developing community-level interventions for youth violence and building effective community-academic research partnerships. Check out the series for helpful insights and next directions for optimizing youth violence and firearm violence prevention practice and research.
